Dr. Shahtaji is from the Chicago area but completed his residency at UC San Diego in Family Medicine and was Chief Resident.
He subsequently completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at Wake Forest in North Carolina. During this time, he cared for the Division I sports teams and traveled to the College Cup with Women’s soccer and the Music City Bowl with Football.
Before coming back to UC San Diego, Dr. Shahtaji served as the team physician for the US Soccer Under-17 Women’s team during their international camp in Croatia and Slovenia. He then had the honor of serving as their team doctor during their World Cup in Azerbaijan. Dr. Shahtaji is a team physician for the US Soccer Federation, UC San Diego and University of San Diego.
